Call to Action
Employment Gap in Tennessee
Tennessee ranks 44th in the U.S. for employment among individuals with disabilities, well below the national average. Key barriers to employment in Tennessee include limited transition planning - leaving many students leaving school unprepared for work, low expectations and biases, lack of inclusive programs, and few options for supportive, community-based employment.
BrightSteps is committed to filling critical gaps by providing a bridge between special education and competitive employment. Through a comprehensive program focusing on the transition from school to the workforce, and building partnerships with employers, our mission is to shrink the gap and prepare individuals with disabilities for employment, empowerment, and independence.
Please reach out with any collaboration proposals you may have. Any support is appreciated!
